A new crazy golf and games bar venue, “Mulligans”, is set to open this summer in North Street, Guildford.

The 17,000 sq.ft venue, operated by Adventure Leisure, will bring two 9-hole crazy golf courses alongside a variety of arcade and bar games, adding a fresh leisure offering to the town’s entertainment scene.

It will take over the former sites of TGI Friday’s, Slice, and Cinderella’s Nightclub, transforming the space on two-floors. Visitors can expect a mix of activities including:

• Electro-darts, American pool, and electro-shuffleboard

• Classic arcade games such as air hockey, skeeball, and basketball

• A sports bar area with 100-inch TV screens for live matches

• A fully stocked bar and dining area serving pizzas, nachos, and sharing plates

• An ice cream and milkshake bar

The venue is said to be being designed by internationally renowned designer Zachary Pulman, known for his work on Swingers and Top Golf.

The new games bar venue will be in the former TGI Friday’s and Cinderella’s nightclub.

The new opening is expected to create over 30 new jobs in the town, with recruitment already underway for select roles.

Adventure Leisure’s Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Brown, expressed excitement about bringing the concept to Guildford, noting the personal significance of the location: “We can’t wait to open our latest Mulligan’s venue in Guildford, we’ve had our eyes on it as our new home for quite some time.

“We have some really special plans for the golf courses in particular and we’re so excited to be working with Zachary Pulman to bring everything to life.

“Cinderella’s was an iconic venue for so many locals, including myself during younger years, so we have big shoes, or glass slippers, to fill, but we’re confident that Mulligans Guildford will be an exciting addition to the town’s entertainment and leisure landscape.”

Savills have been advertising the premises.

Guildford will be Mulligans’ 14th location, joining other venues in Basildon, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cheltenham, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Norwich, Sidcup, Stevenage, Tonbridge, and Worcester. The most recent addition to the chain opened in Hemel Hempstead in 2024.

Mulligans is operated by Adventure Leisure Limited, a subsidiary of Burhill Group Limited (BGL), which also owns golf clubs and the BUNKERS! and Ninja Warrior UK brands.

I don’t like the idea at all. Our kids will be trying to spend lots of time there, even perhaps bunking off school.

It will encourage bad elements into the town that we have fought a long time to eradicate, such as drug dealers and gangs. So many other businesses in other towns have been closed down due to this.

Also it will put others out of business like the ice cream parlour.

      So much to unpack here.

It’s going to be so amazingly good that kids will be bunking off school to go there? Does that mean everything should be made dull?

If kids can afford to bunk of school and play mini-golf, then maybe they are getting too much pocket money.

What, specifically, about this place will attract “bad elements” that is lacking at the like of Popworld and Labyrinth?

I think it’s a good idea I would give them a try, more activities to do in person, something fun to do, it will revive that area as well.

Also if there was a ballroom in town to dance for adults like there used to be that would be great.
