Mysterious painted signs in various colours have been appearing on the road and pavements at the bottom half of North Street over the last few weeks.

Coloured paint markings appeared on the North Street pavement over the last few weeks.

Any potential speculation was ended by a call to the developer for the North Street regeneration project.

A spokesperson for the developer, St Edwards, said: “The temporary spray-painted markings along North Street are a result of utility surveys that were undertaken to help inform the detailed design of the pedestrianisation of North Street and the wider Friary Quarter redevelopment.

“These markings are not permanent and should naturally wash away after several rainfalls.”
