New Book Takes You On A Tour Of Guildford’s History

Hot off the press from Amberley Books and available now in bookshops, online and from the authors direct is Guildford History Tour, at £6.99.

Adverts 2It has been compiled by David Rose and Bernard Parke and is loosely based on their previous title Guildford Through Time (recently re-issued and updated).

This new, handy pocket-sized book, takes the form of a guided walk around the town starting and finishing at the railway station.

The book is neatly laid out with vintage pictures of the town and its famous buildings and streets.

The captions have also been carefully written to reflect the ‘virtual’ tour readers will be taken on.

A map shows the positions of the locations featured and certainly brings to life the street scenes of yesteryear – from the heyday of the picture postcard at the beginning of the 2oth century to views and events in the town that are well within living memory.

Dare we mention Christmas presents? Well, it’s an ideal stocking filler for anyone who likes a bit of local history and nostalgia!

To order a copy direct from the authors, call Bernard Parke on 01483 575574, or David Rose on 01483 838960.
