Please could you tell us where to park this year?
In my mid-seventies, I am now unable to walk on uneven ground and shall need to park quite close to the centre of Ripley. In the past, we have parked near the roundabout under the A3, on the Portsmouth Road. With the advent of the M25 J10 works, I am concerned this will not be a viable prospect. Are there any alternatives?

The Guildford Dragon NEWS says: Ripley’s Bonfire’s website gives comprehensive parking details. If you can’t access it or send an email (there is no phone number on the website site), this is what is stated on the website….
    BY CAR

    From Guildford Direction

From the A3 northbound leave at the Ripley/Burnt Common junction and proceed towards Ripley on the B2215. Car Park 1 can be accessed by either turning left through Send Marsh or turning left in the centre of the village towards Pyrford.

(See additional information on car park(s) below.)

    From London Direction

From the M25 (Junction 10) head south on the A3 in the direction of Guildford for just over one mile until you reach the first major exit B2215, signposted Ockham, Ripley and Send. Leave the A3 and take the second exit off the roundabout and proceed into the village.

Car Park 2 can be accessed by turning right off the High Street on the Village Green or Car Park 3 can be accessed by turning left off the High Street into Rose Lane, both of these car parks can fill up early. In the event that they are closed then Car Park 1 should be used turning right in the centre of the village into Newark Lane towards Pyrford.

(See additional information on car park(s) below.)

    From Woking Direction

From Pyrford follow Newark Lane towards Ripley Village, Car Park 1 comes up on the left hand side after the Seven Stars Public House and is approximately 250 metres from the start of the Funfair.

(See additional information on car park(s) below.)

    From Horsley/Clandon Directions

From West Horsley follow Rose Lane towards Ripley Village, Car Park 3 can be accessed by turning left opposite Ripley Court School approximately 100m from the High Street.

(See additional information on car park(s) below.)

Car Park 1 – Newark Lane

This car park is located on the road (Newark Lane) from the village out towards Pyrford and Woking adjacent to Homewood Farm and is a short two minute walk to the main event; this car park can also be accessed from Send Marsh via Polesden Lane.

This car park is operated by volunteers from Surrey Search & Rescue on behalf of Ripley Bonfire Association. It has a capacity for approximately 1,000 cars and has a fee of £5 per car to park. (Please note that this is not a donation.)

A one way system (right turn only) will be in operation upon exiting this car park between 8:15 pm and 9:45 pm. This is designed to alleviate traffic congestion previously experienced and should ensure a speedier return home for all visitors.

Please note Car Park 1 closes at 10:30 pm sharp at which time the gates will be locked.

Car Park 2 – Village Green

This car park is located on the Village Green and is accessed off the High Street.

Due to its location and limited capacity this car park can fill up quickly and is often closed early. Also due to the road closure and firework display no exit from this car park is possible between 7 pm and 8:20 pm. Access to this car park can be challenging as it is necessary to cross the Village Green and having to negotiate the crowds, both on entering and leaving the event, therefore if you are arriving late or intend leaving early you are advised to use Car Park 1.

This car park is operated by the Ripley Scouts on behalf of Ripley Bonfire Association and has a capacity of up to 200 cars and has a fee of £5 per car to park. (Please note that this is not a donation.)

Car Park 3 – Rose Lane

This car park is located on the road (Rose Lane) from the village out towards West Horsley adjacent to the Ripley Scout Hut and opposite Ripley Court School and is approximately 100 metres from the High Street.

This car park is operated by volunteers from Ripley Court School on behalf of Ripley Bonfire Association, it has a capacity of 200–300 cars and has a small donation to park.

    Street Parking

Unfortunately due to inconsiderate street parking by motorists in previous years, the Police and local authority will this year be actively policing all surrounding roads, therefore visitors to this year’s event are strongly advised not to park on approach roads to the village, but follow the ‘Blue Bonfire Car Park Signs’ and use the official car parks.

If you do street park please remember:

∙ Vehicles must obey temporary ‘No Waiting Cones’
    · Vehicles must park in the direction of the flow of traffic
    · Vehicles must not park on or obstruct pathways/pavements
    · Vehicles must not cause an obstruction (i.e. parking over dropped kerbs, etc.)
    · Vehicles must park with lights on when parking on the road with 40 mph limit

    Road Closures

Motorists are reminded that all roads will be extremely busy between 6 pm and 9:30 pm and that the following road closures will be in place between 7:10 pm and 7:40 pm.

    · High Street – closed between Village Hall and Half Moon Public House
    · Newark Lane – no access into or out of Newark Lane at its junction with the High Street
    · Rose Lane – no access into or out of Rose Lane at its junction with the High Street

    DISABLED PARKING

We have a limited amount of parking spaces for the disabled, which are situated on the Green, therefore we need all cars to have their blue badges visible and the person who it applies to must be in the car. Once on the Green marshals will direct you to where they are situated.

    BY TRAIN

The nearest station to Ripley is East Clandon (approximately four miles), however, many visitors arriving by train travel to Woking mainline station and then take a bus or taxi to Ripley.

    BY BUS

There are several bus services to Ripley, however, these become limited into the evening. If you travel to the village by bus and leave after the event you may need to use a taxi for your return journey.

Details of bus services operating through Ripley can be found on the following website:

    http://www.ripleyvillage.co.uk/map.html
    http://www.ripleyvillage.org.uk/bus.html
    BY FOOT

Ripley Village is accessible by foot via public footpaths and highway pavements from all local villages. Pedestrians should be aware that some parts are poorly lit and bright clothing should be worn and a torch carried.
