Pregnant Woman Struck in Collision – Police Seek Witnesses

police accident sign 2Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Guildford on Monday, October 5.

Officers were called to Aldershot Road, Guildford, at around 3.15pm following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a black vehicle.

The pedestrian, a heavily pregnant woman in her 30s from the local area, was walking across a zebra crossing near to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School when she was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford suffering from serious injuries, but sadly she lost the baby she was expecting.

Sergeant Eddie Ryan, of Surrey Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts and sympathies remains with the injured woman and her family at this extremely difficult time.

“Surrey Police officers are providing as much support and information as we can to the injured woman and her family and I would urge anyone who saw the collision or the events leading up to it to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white van seen in the area who we believe may have witnessed the incident.
