Send C of E Primary School Celebrates its 10th Anniversary

Pupils, staff, governors, families and community partners came together on Sunday, September 20, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Send C of E Primary School with a thanksgiving service and a fair.

The primary school was established in September 2016 when Send First School and St Bede’s Junior School merged to form an all-through primary school.

The merger replaced the ageing St Bede’s buildings with new ones.

Following the thanksgiving service, festivities continued with the fair, opened by the Mayor of Guildford, Jane Tyson.

Visitors enjoyed a bouncy castle, tours of the school, dance performances from pupils who are part of the Kellilou Irish Dance Academy, and Hungarian School Dancers.

Displays celebrating the school’s history, contributed to the Faces of Send community art project, and stalls run by local churches, scouts and community organisations.

Headteacher Marianne McDonnell said: “Reaching our 10th anniversary is such a special milestone.

“I am immensely proud of everything our team, children and families have built together, while continuing to build on the wonderful foundations laid before us.

“The service and birthday fair were a real reflection of our rich history, our strong Christian values, and the bright future ahead for our whole school community.”
