The new Cocco patisserie and coffee shop opened right opposite Waitrose in Haydon Place in November 2021. It couldn’t be better placed to catch the many Waitrose shoppers on their way to or from their shopping.
It is a lovely, bright and spacious cafe and owner Jacob Armani, said proudly: “We have the best cakes and coffee in Guildford.
“But we are not just a coffee shop. We are a patisserie, we have celebration cakes and we cater for family and office parties.”
It is a perfect spot and it is showing in how busy they are.
Jacob runs the cafe with his partner, Mariam. He said they are looking for four more staff to keep up with the rush. And that is on top of the four working in the cafe already.
“Our busiest days are on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday but the rest of the week is doing all right as well.”
But there is plenty of seating inside the pleasant cafe, so finding a seat shouldn’t be a problem.
Jacob has lived in Guildford for the last 15 years and has previously run an export and import business for food from Italy and Spain.
The success of his new venture has encouraged him to think of expanding. “It’s going so well, we would love to open another shop in Guildford or in Surrey.”
The cafe is open every day between 8am and 7pm except Saturday and Sunday when it closes at 6pm.
