Guildford’s Friary shopping centre is supporting 11 local charities with a tree festival and a giving tree this Christmas.
The giving tree is in support of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Shoppers can take a tag from the tree, buying the gift written on the tag and leaving it with the Friary’s management office.
Presents must be left unwrapped and donated by Sunday, December 17.
The gifts will go to Shooting Star that supports babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, from diagnosis to end of life.
The Christmas tree festival (0n level two of the Friary by the Next store) features 10 trees, each decorated by local charitable organisations.
Shoppers can vote for their favourite tree by placing a vote in the dedicated ballot box and the charity with the most votes will receive at £,1000 donation from the Friary.
Voting closes on Sunday, December 31.
There are also QR codes on each tree to which shoppers can make their own donation to those of their choice.
The charities participating are: Artventure, Guildford Action, Guildford Cathedral, Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, North Guildford Food Bank, Royal Surrey Hospital Charity, Surrey Wildlife Trust, The Fountain Centre, The Salvation Army Guildford and Zero Carbon Guildford.
