Jo Clarks, 176 High Street, Guildford
Jo Clarks is one of the longest established independent coffee shops in the town, which is the evenings doubles up as a wine bar.
On the morning we visited there was a good, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and it was not too hectic. Perfect to enjoy a drink and a snack – perhaps meeting up with friends or taking time out on your own to read one of the newspapers on offer. It has a traditional country-style decor that’s simple but effective.
We ordered an Americano and a cappuccino – both tasted good and were reasonably priced too. On the food front we chose a Danish pastry and a chocolate caramel slice, again very tasty.
Jo Clarks offers a range of drinks and snacks during the daytime, such as croissants, pastries, sandwiches and so on.
The staff were attentive, but not intrusive. One of us (being a bit thirsty) ordered a second coffee, and a glass of water was offered as a courteous complimentary alternative to the other reviewer.

I have been a customer of Jo Clarks since their early days in Market Street and have always found them to be welcoming and very friendly – so nice to have an independant coffee shop/bar where the staff remember you and how you like your coffee!
