Dan James is a photographer, graphic and web designer from Guildford. He takes stunning landscape and natural history photos and films. Here is his latest selection of photos, this time a sunrise on St Martha’s Hill near Guildford.

Dan says: “This month brought us the fascinating pass of Comet Ison! Being a keen astro photographer I packed my gear up and headed out to try and see the passing of the comet. Unfortunately, due to the awesome British clouds, I missed it. However, it was still a beautiful sunrise.

“The images below are all taken from one morning up on St Martha’s Hill.

“Image 3 shows the cause of a lot of discussion between astronomers recently. Although it’s clearly an aircraft, due to the nature of the ‘contrail’, no-one has ever seen one so bright and vivid before!

“I even had reports of people seeing this ‘fireball’ passing through the sky… I’m still convinced that it’s more than a plane!”
