Have you been innovative? Guildford Borough Council (GBC) wants to know. It is encouraging the public to submit entries to the Guildford Innovation Awards 2018.

The awards celebrate innovations made by individuals, businesses, and social enterprises in the borough, and promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects.

Awards will be given in nine categories, including: Sustainability; Innovation in healthcare; Young business of the year and Young innovator of the year (25 and under).

Cllr Gordon Jackson.

Cllr Gordon Jackson, Lead Cllr for Innovation and Transformation, said: “Guildford is an innovative borough and we are excited to see all the entries for this year’s Guildford Innovation Awards.

“If you, your company or someone you know has come up with something really innovative this year, we’d love to hear from you to help showcase the creativity our local residents and companies have to offer.”

The awards follow the 2018 Innovate Guildford science and arts festival at G Live in March. The festival featured exhibits from the University of Surrey, McLaren, Guildford Shakespeare Company, and many others.

Individuals, businesses and social enterprises can all submit their entries online. The deadline for submissions is noon, 31 October, and entries will be shortlisted based upon information supplied on the application.
