Hundreds of families are being encouraged to ‘have a go’ at more than 50 sport and dance activities all part of a brand new summer festival hosted at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.

50 sports for the whole family

GoFest, the UK’s Family Festival of Sport, Dance, Health and Fitness takes place from Friday to Sunday, July 10 to 12, and will transform the elite training venue to offer three days of activities, a live main stage with entertainment and wholesome family fun

The event aims to tackle the UK’s growing obesity problem by encouraging families to go along and try their hand at a plethora of activities that they will hopefully enjoy and maintain beyond the weekend, with coaching and sessions led by some of the UK’s leading sporting talent. These will include community teams from Harlequins Rugby, Surrey County Cricket Club and Fulham FC Foundation.

In addition to all the mainstream sport and dance you might expect, GoFest boasts a whole range of unusual pursuits to “have a go” at, including kayaking, archery tag, skiing (on real snow) and a number of assault courses for both children and adults, continuing to prove that one day at the festival just isn’t enough!

Family friendly evening entertainment presents live music from world class tribute bands Only One Direction, That That 2 and Abba Revival, as well as show dances from Got to Dance winners Duplic8, and GoFest ambassadors and Strictly Come Dancing stars, Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe, joining celebrities backing the first time festival.

GoFest will also provide a series of runs and races including the Power Rangers 1 Mile Fun Run, the Girlguiding 1 Mile Fun Run and the GSK 5K Race, enabling festival goers to support GoFest-backed charity Finlays Fighters, or one of their own choice. In addition to Macmillan Cancer Support and SportsAid will receive 10% of all ticket sales.
