Fifteen new full-time firefighters and eight control room operators have joined Surrey Fire and Rescue after completing their training.

Their success was celebrated at a passing-out parade held on Sunday, April 19.

Dan Quin, Surrey’s Chief Fire Officer, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome our newest colleagues to our service, as well as meet their loved ones at the pass-out parade.

“Having shown great commitment and resilience throughout their training, we’re proud to welcome them to the team and look forward to the difference they will make in their vital roles.

“Congratulations again to all and a special thanks to our learning and development team for their dedicated and thorough training and mentorship provided.”

The recruits will be joining the crews in the control room mobilising for Surrey, West Sussex and East Sussex, as well as fire stations in Guildford, Camberley, Farnham, Godstone,  Banstead, Chertsey, Painshill, Salfords and Walton, supporting the whole of Surrey.

This pass-out parade, held in Reigate, marks the recruits’ completion of their training and the beginning of their service to the community.

Surrey Fire and Rescue is encouraging members of the public to consider a career in the service.

Recruitment for on-call firefighters is open for Guildford, Godalming, Haslemere, Chobham, Cranleigh, Dunsfold, Gomshall, Lingfield, Oxted, and Walton, offering an opportunity for people to serve the community while maintaining work or personal commitments. On-call firefighters respond to call outs from their primary employment or daytime activities (such as in between school runs).
