A Guildford to Paris sponsored bike ride is being planned to raise money for Peruvian children.

Volunteers will leave Guildford on 15th September and cycle a total distance of 200 miles, spread over four days before returning to Guildford by minibus.

A spokesman said, “The Paris bike ride is one of Project Peru’s main annual fundraising ventures. No ‘professional’ cycling skills are required, just a degree of fitness and determination, a good bike, enthusiasm and the ability to raise sponsorship.”

Last year one participant said, “As with most things, one is always sad when it comes to an end but the memories will always be there and be good! thank you … for demonstrating what can be achieved when one’s heart is  in the right place.”

Another said, “I’m sure many will echo my sentiments  in saying that it was one of the most professionally organised, well-planned and spirited events that I have had the fortune to partake in.

All participants are expected to pay for the costs of the ride separately so that all sponsorship money raised goes directly to Peru and is not absorbed in the administration costs of this event. A minimum level of sponsorship must be guaranteed.

The 200 mile route is  covered in four days by cyclists riding from Guildford – Brighton – Newhaven – crossing to Dieppe, then via Buchy- Les Andelys – Giverny – La Roche Guyon – Meulan – St. Germaine en Laye to Paris (Arc de Triomphe) following our well established route.
