Surrey Hills Arts is offering a unique opportunity to have an inspiring quote, poem or words engraved onto a permanent sculpture in the Surrey Hills.
The sculpture, known as Perspectives, is a stunning pod-like shelter nestled in the Winterfold woods above Cranleigh, which cocoons the visitor, offering a place from which to sit and look out on the view over the Surrey Hills towards the South Downs.
The structure is made up of more tan 400 wooden tiles and half are still available for words to be engraved on.
Created by artist Giles Miller, Perspectives was inspired by personal and commemorative messages, often left for loved ones in areas of natural beauty.
Many of the wooden tiles on the structure have inspirational words inscribed, for example: “And into the wood I go, to lose my mind and find my soul,” and “I sit and stare in wonderment my heart and mind and soul content”, and “Be still for the presence of the view”.
Ali Clarke, Inspiring Views programme manager, said “The Surrey Hills inspire so many people and it’s wonderful to be able to capture some of these thoughts and expressions and add them to this beautiful piece.
“We are looking for inspiring quotes that encapsulate the thoughts and feelings of people’s experience in areas of beauty and nature and particularly how the Surrey Hills make them feel. Quotes can also be dedicated to loved ones which would make a unique and lasting gift.”
For a suggested donation of £50 you can have your own message on permanent display in the Surrey Hills landscape.
Donations go into the Surrey Hills Trust Fund, which helps to support a wide range of local projects, from landscape conservation to community schemes.
