Letter: Claims in Guildford MP’s Letter Are False

Lib Dem leaflet claiming only the Lib Dems can stop Nigel Farage becoming PM (click on image to enlarge).

From Thom Van Every

Chair Guildford Conservatives

I wanted to draw attention to literature that is being circulated in Guildford by the Liberal Democrats. It promotes a factual untruth about the Conservative Party’s position in relation to Nigel Farage.

Kemi Badenoch [Conservative leader] makes no such claim about being ready to make Nigel Farage the next Prime Minister and indeed has been very clear on this elsewhere.

The article in the Spectator reflects the journalist’s own view of the interview, not what was said.

We think it’s unacceptable for the Liberal Democrats to peddle known falsehoods to Guildford residents.

Do the Liberal Democrats and Guildford’s MP Zöe Franklin stand by this literature when is it is known to be incorrect?

Ed. Zoe Franklin has been invited to respond.

While one can always take issue with the Liberal Democrats’ claims, often it is just a matter of opinion. But they have really gone out on a limb with this one.

Why would the Conservatives want to enter into any sort of a pact with an organisation which has as one of its avowed aims the destruction of the Conservative party itself? Moreover, the Conservative party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has repeatedly made it clear that she will consider no sort of a deal with Reform.
    T
he Liberal Democrats must really be rattled if they have to resort to these sort of scare tactics. Have they no policies of their own to promote other than seeking to throw away Britain’s sovereignty for a second time?

I think that the status of Conservative dealings with Reform have been known to be on a no deal basis for quite a while.

I have no association with the Lib Dems, but the fact that the Tories are whining about that really does say just how desperate they are.
