Letter: Igloo Escapes for Hard-pressed Hospital Staff at the Royal Surrey

From: Ray Rogers

elected governor, Royal Surrey County Hospital Trust

The Covid-19 burden on staff at the Royal Surrey remains intense and exhausting so it’s really important they have somewhere to relax away from the unending claustrophobic pressures.

So look at what’s just arrived for them: transparent igloos, a great idea.

Now staff can escape inside to comfort and warmth and still feel they are in open space.

The igloos are charity-funded and restricted to six people, socially distanced and assigned to particular departments.

The picture shows furniture being installed at the Royal Surrey. More igloos are now being set up at Milford hospital.

Such brilliant innovative thinking. I want one.

Subscriptions to an app called YOGA365 are free to all healthcare workers. The app delivers a short micro yoga or meditation practice each day, lasting between one and three minutes, for the next year.

The practices are presented by yoga teacher, author and lecturer Eddie Stern. The offer to all healthcare workers in the UK has been arranged in partnership with ‘You OK Doc,’ (YOD Foundation) a mental health and well-being charity for doctors. If you are a healthcare worker and would like to use the app, message @YOGA365 direct via Instagram to arrange subscription.

The app is available to all.
