Former GBC lead councillor (Con) for Housing and Homelessness
In response to: The Tories Talked About Housing, the New Council is Actually Working on Homes
I have to say Cllr Potter appears to be hoping sheer waffle obscures the facts. I asked for three questions to be answered in my letter of February 6:
1. How many new social houses have been delivered since May 2019?
2. How many new affordable houses have been delivered since May 2019? And
3. What new initiatives have been put in place by the present Liberal Democrat/R4GV council to provide social and affordable housing which had not previously been part of Conservative policy?
Unless I missed it in his voluminous text, none of my questions has been answered. I would like to add another:
4. How many new social houses and how many new affordable houses are projected to have been completed between May 2019 and the end of this council term in May 2023?
I sincerely hope I will get a reply to these questions. Social housing is too important an issue with which to play politics. I clearly set out my plans in my letter of February 6. Now the Lib Dem/R4GV council should clearly set out theirs.

The Conservatives do have some cheek in pressurising the Lib Dem’s to produce plans for housing just after less than two years of taking office when it took them over six years to produce a Local Plan that doesn’t, to my knowledge, contain any social housing.
From what I have seen with recent Local Plan developments that are being built, there’s nothing ‘affordable’ either.
And to make it clear, I am not a fan of either party.
