In response to: Campaign to Gauge Opinion on Restoring the Railway Line to Cranleigh

I wholeheartedly agree with Adrian Chandler’s letter regarding the reopening of the railway link between Cranleigh and Guildford.

After watching the excellent series ”Abandoned Railways from Above” on Channel 4 recently and the success of the partially reopened Waverley line in the Scottish Borders, it makes a very strong case for reopening the Cranleigh line to Guildford to ease traffic on the A281.

Unfortunately, the new Labour Government have put a stop to such schemes at present but with the 1,800 new homes being built at Dunsfold Park soon and the numerous new developments in and around the Cranleigh area now is the time to start seriously thinking of reopening Surrey’s only Beeching railway closure.
