Letter: Thank You To Those Who Helped Us In Guildford

From Jack McFarlane (of Ashtead)

Today, Thursday, September 14 my wife and I experienced so much kindness and consideration by various people in Guildford we would like to share our story with your readers.

We visited shops and a coffee shop in Guildford and made a few purchases. From a bus stop we got on a Park & Ride bus but shortly after departure, we realised I had left a bag, containing two new pairs of shoes for my wife, at the bus stop or elsewhere.

We left the bus in a hurry and walked as quickly as possible back to the bus stop but the bag was missing.

We re-visited shops and a coffee shop where we thought there was a possibility of finding the bag but had no success.

Eventually, without much hope, we returned to the shoe shop where we had bought the shoes. To our delight and surprise, a delightful shop assistant had the all important bag.

She explained that a man had called there and handed over the shoes, saying he had found them at the bus stop.

What an incredible act of kindness. If the man concerned reads these words we wish to say thank you, your action has restored our faith in human nature.

Everywhere we went and made our enquiries we met nothing but concern and kindness from so many people. Our thanks to all of them.
