Letter: The Promised Different Way of Doing Local Politics Is Still Awaited

I’m a new reader of The Dragon but one thing is very clear, there seems to be a very obvious pattern.

When residents have an issue they ask GBC to take action but nothing happens. Residents then contact their local councillors. Still nothing happens. Then residents get angry and frustrated that their issues are being ignored so they tell The Dragon.

Only once the issue has been seen publicly and lots of questions are asked do we see the same old councillors come out with their excuses.

It would be nice, for once, if GBC took a proactive approach to residents’ issues. We all look forward to the day they keep their promise of greater transparency and a new way of doing local politics.
