In response to: Guildford Focus: Daphne Jackson – A Woman To Be Proud Of

I’m delighted to see this well-deserved tribute to Daphne Jackson. I was a very early beneficiary of her Women Returners’ Scheme in 1985.

The part-time fellowship I was granted at the University of Surrey rescued me from insecure erratic programming work following a career break when my two sons were born, and allowed me to return subsequently to a full-time academic career in scientific computing research.

Daphne Jackson’s vision and encouragement made a huge difference to my life, and I’m sure I speak for all the other 200 plus “returners” in praising her work and being deeply grateful for her vision and encouragement.
