Broadwater BC v CGBC 16 Jun

In a howling gale, fortunately without rain, the Castle Green Bowling Club played an away match on Saturday against the Broadwater Bowling Club, in Godalming. Hats blew away and bowls diverted from their course!

It was a struggle, and we had to pause to play in between gusts. Some of the players thought they ought to hang onto their heavy bowls bags for fear of being blown away themselves. The end result was a respectable win for CGBC, by 66-27, followed by a delicious tea with scones and jam, in the smart, newly refurbished quarters of Guildford Rugby Club.

CGBC v Woodbridge Hill BC 17 Jun

Sunday, in a complete contrast to the previous day weather wise and result wise, CGBC were at home to Woodbridge Hill, who triumphed 67-29. Playing for CGBC were D. Summerhayes (Captain), D. Hirst-Marsden, N. Pilkington, N. Hinde, M. Gurtler, F. Webster, S. Roberts, L. Webster and C. Summerhayes; playing for Woodbridge Hill were  G. Cumper (Captain), S. Markham, M. Jenkins,  I. Jones, P. Walker, A. Fielden,  D. Fielden, and J. Woodhatch.
