Italian goalkeeper Justin Fazio and Canadian defenceman Travis Brown will return for a new season at The Spectrum.

Fazio will return for a second season after joining Spectrum’s team early last term initially as injury cover. The 29-year-old led the league in wins with 25 and was among the league’s Elite stoppers posting a nearly 93 save percentage and a 2.5 goals against average across Cup, League and playoff competition.

Prior to his UK debut, the 6ft 1” 190lb netminder iced six seasons in Italy, three with Bolzano and three with Asiago, where he played 118 games while posting a 3.19 goals against average and a 90.0 save percentage. The Canadian born, Italian passport holder, was also an Italian national side netminder having iced in World championships and Olympic Game Qualifiers from 2021 through 2023.

Travis Brown, the 6’2”, 200lb blueliner, iced in 64 games this past season where he had six goals and 24 points and was selected for his first national team experience when he will ice for GB at the upcoming World Championships.

The 31 year old was a 5th round NHL draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks and opened his pro account at St John’s IceCaps in the AHL in 2015-2016. He spent the bulk of his North American minor pro career at ECHL Brampton Beast, Wichita Thunder and Indy Fuel ahead of three seasons in Denmark and another in Norway in the lead up to his UK debut at Belfast Giants in 2023-2024.

Head Coach Paul Dixon commented on the signings: “When we brought Justin in, we were confident he could offer very good injury cover, but he unquestionably overshot our expectations.”

“He was our best player a lot of nights, and once he settled after a few early games, he was consistently solid, and we even won a few games that he basically stole for us. Netminding is the most crucial position on the ice, and we are excited to have Justin back in that role.”

“Travis has made a significant contribution to the club over his first 2 seasons and he has become a true leader with our group.”

“He definitely earned a call with the GB national team once his eligibility situation changed to allow that, and we wish him well at the upcoming event and look forward to seeing him back here when the new season begins.”
