A field of poppies and a stunning shot of trees reflected in water are the winners in a photographic competition.

Organised by Guildford’s White Lion Walk shopping centre, the winners of the competition based on the theme ‘nature at its best’ were Pauline Keating and Hannah Venable.

The theme was chosen due to White Lion Walk’s commitment to the environment. The centre received an overwhelming amount of entries, and the competition was tough.

All entries were displayed within an exhibition at the shopping centre during August, where six finalists were then picked by a panel of judges. The final two winners were then chosen by a public vote through the Surrey Advertiser.

On Friday, September 14, the winners received their prizes; a digital camera tripod, a membership to the Guildford Photographic Society, a year’s membership to the National Trust, an introduction to learn about bees, plus an A3 canvas print of their photo.

White Lion Walk’s Centre Manager Steve Cotney, who presented the prizes, said: “We received so many incredible entries. It’s great to see the talent that Guildford has to offer and it’s fantastic to think we may have uncovered some budding photographers.”
