A 47-year-old man has been arrested following the report of a sexual assault on a teenage girl in Ash yesterday (October 3).
A second incident in Ash has been reported on the same day. In this case, a member of the public intervened.
The first incident happened at around 4pm in Britten Close, near Ash Station, when the 17-year-old girl was pulled into a vehicle and sexually assaulted. The victim was able to escape and reported the assault to the police.
Officers quickly attended the scene and conducted enquiries that led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man from Dudley, in the West Midlands. He remains in police custody.
While carrying out house-to-house enquiries, officers received a further report that at a similar time a woman was approached in Ash Church Road by a man in a vehicle who asked her to get into his car. This was reported by a member of the public who intervened and the police are now looking to identify the woman involved.
Guildford Borough Commander Blaine Rafferty sought to reassure the public that such incidents are rare, adding: “There are a number of officers working on the investigation. You will see officers in the area today as they continue to carry out enquiries and I’d encourage you to speak with them if you have any concerns.
