A man in his 80s has died following a road-traffic collision in Aldershot Road, Guildford on Wednesday afternoon, August 21.
Surrey Police report the incident took place “just after 3.30pm when a Ford car was in a collision with a Mitsubishi car”.
The police add that the driver of the Ford car was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.
The driver of the other car was not injured.
The A323 Aldershot Road was closed for several hours between Northway / Southway (by the two mini roundabouts) and at the roundabout at Broadstreet / Rydes Hill Road.
Residents on the north side of Aldershot Road and in Hill View Crescent (within the closed part of the A323) were unable to exit by motor-vehicle for a time while police and ambulance crews were at the scene.
The Air Ambulance Service’s helicopter landed nearby in Stoughton Recreation Ground.
Surrey Police is asking for anyone who witnessed the collision or have any dashcam footage that could help the investigation to call on 101 quoting PR/P19192003.
