Police are appealing for information in investigating an allegation of sexual assault in Cranleigh Baptist church in 2012. The assault, reported in January this year, is said to have happened December 24 in a church toilet. The only description of the suspect is that he was male.
Detectives said this was during an organised Christmas performance and they would like to speak to anyone who was at the church that night. DC Neil Palmer said: “It has taken immense bravery for the victim to come forward and we are doing everything we can to identify the person responsible for this assault.
“We want to speak to anyone who was at the church that evening and may have photographs or seen something suspicious.”

Hope they catch the person, but please use the word “historical” for something that occurred in the past. ‘Historic’ means ‘famous or important in history, or potentially so’. It’s a frequent mistake these days. Sorry to be a pedant.
Correction made. Thank you.
