A man was arrested this evening following a car chase that passed through Guildford and Old Woking this evening (July 13).

The car, a black Ford Focus, was initially spotted in Park Barn Drive, Guildford around 6.20pm. The occupants of the car had covered their faces.

Officers pursued the car, which was travelling at speeds of up to 80mph, through Park Barn to Worplesdon Road, along the A320 Woking Road and through Old Woking before the male driver and two male passengers abandoned the car in Frailey Hill in Maybury and made off.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was eventually located in a nearby garden and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop. He remains in custody at this time.

Officers are making further enquiries to locate the two passengers.

A number of members of the public called in to report the car being driven dangerously, with several of them involved in near collisions with the offending vehicle.

A large number of officers, including dog units, were involved in the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “If you witnessed this incident and you have not already spoken to police, or you have any other information which could help, please contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting P17176276.”
