Well over 700 people including military veterans took part in this year’s Remembrance Day Parade in Ash, held on Sunday, November 9.
Participants came from a wide variety of organisations including the Army
Outreach Team, local schools, the Ash Manor Combined Cadet Force, St John Ambulance, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides, U3A and Farnborough Quakers.
The parade, organised by Ash Parish Council, began at the Ash Centre and proceeded to the Ash War Memorial, led by a lone piper, Chris Harris.
The Union Flag was carried by the 1st Ash Vale Scouts, followed by Ash Parish Council Vice-Chair Carla Morson, the Parish Clerk, Alison Watmore, fellow parish councillors and representatives from local uniformed organisations.
The service was conducted jointly by representatives of the churches within the Ash Parish including the Rev’d Neil Lambert of St Mary’s, Ash Vale, the Rev’d Claire Holt of St Peter’s, Ash, and Father Robin Farrow from Holy Angels, Ash
Music for the service was provided by the Cove Brass Band.
Following the service, the parade returned to the Ash Centre, where the salute was taken by Cllr Morson as the various contingents marched past.

Ash represents a quarter of the urban population of Guildford Borough. Even so, a turnout of 700-1000 people is a big deal.
We were blessed with good weather.
Of particular note were the number of young people in the parade, courtesy of the Scouts, CCF etc.
I am proud of our community.
