Ewbank’s upcoming auction is set to take film buffs Back to the Future with the discovery of a previously unseen poster for the iconic sci-fi adventure comedy classic.

The unused poster is so rare, from the collection of a former employee at Lonsdale Advertising, no one even knows the artist, leaving the world of movie memorabilia collectors guessing on its potential value.

It will be sold in a two-day sale of vintage posters, entertainment and sporting memorabilia and toys on Thursday and Friday, February 11 and 12.

One of the rarest vintage posters to be offered at Ewbank’s in recent years is a one-sheet (27 x 41 inches) for the 1939 drama Only Angels Have Wings, starring Cary Grant and Jean Arthur, with Rita Hayworth, making her first major screen appearance. The poster is estimated at £2,500 to £3,500.
