A Guildford business network group has announced that it is going to support the charity Disability Challengers for a second year.
A spokesperson for BEST Business Group, Surrey’s second longest-running independent business group said: “We are proud to confirm that we’ll be continuing to support this independent charity.”
The charity specialises in developing and delivering play and leisure for 1,300 disabled children and young people across Surrey and Hampshire.
For over 30 years now they’ve been providing playgroups and schemes where disabled children can meet friends, have fun and challenge their impairments through play.
Relying on voluntary donations and partnerships with other organisations, the charity that’s based in Guildford at the Challengers Guildford play centre, has worked on changing the way the wider world views disability.
The chairman of BEST Business group, Laurie Rogers, received a certificate of membership early February 2013 for continuing their membership to the group, which now has 23 members.
In a press statement he said: “We all believe passionately in Disability Challengers. They do a wonderful job for disabled children in Surrey and we’re honoured to be members for another year.”
The head of communications and marketing at the charity, Madeline Henderson, said: “It’s fantastic that BEST is supporting us again. We’re thrilled they’re continuing their membership.”
“The club gives vital support as it helps fund us in these tough times and enables us to give play places to more than 1300 families and meet costs of more than £2 million a year.”
BEST Business Group, which was established in 2001, is a Guildford-based networking group. It includes many different industries such as banking, business planning, landscaping and property.
The group provides Surrey Businesses with a range of services only available from the largest organisations. Members of the group include NatWest Business Banking, Alliotts and Guildford Wealth Management Ltd.
The club holds three seminars a year where experts teach about motivation, customer service and negotiating for its 23 members. Set up in November 2010, the seminars give exclusive access to celebrity guest speakers.
Broadcaster Michael Buerk attended last October and prior to that former racing driver Damon Hill gave a talk about handling stress and the parallels between business and Formula 1.
