And the birthday fun will include competitions and giveaways and Spectrum mascot Specky will be giving out badges and goodies all day.

Anyone who is actually 21 on February 23 will receive free admission to swimming, skating and bowling for the whole day.

Proof of your age/birth will be needed at reception and as it will be a busy day, the time of the activities may vary – so it’s best to arrive early to book your preferred activity.

Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex cost £28 million to build and took two years to complete. Since then, the award-winning leisure complex has received more than 35 million visits and welcomes up to 50,000 people in its busiest weeks of the year.

It is managed by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Guildford Borough Council. Area manager Steve May said: “Spectrum caused quite a stir when it opened in 1993 and its great attraction then, as now, was the wide variety of leisure and fitness activities it offers people of all ages.

“People can pop to Spectrum for a quick swim or work out, or they can stay here all day and enjoy many activities with family and friends.

“We were very pleased to take over the management of Guildford Spectrum in 2011 and are committed to keeping it in great condition to ensure it delivers first-class facilities for at least another 21 years.”

Find out more and see how you can take part at www.guildfordspectrum.co.uk or call 01483 443322.  And don’t forget to take your ID if you’re celebrating your birthday that day.

Congratulations to the Guildford Spectrum on reaching 21 years old. I am more than happy for my council tax to be spent on sporting venues. I would like to think that a purpose built football ground for Guildford City is the next thing budgeted for.
