G Live Vaccination Programme Restarts

The Covid vaccination operation at G Live in Guildford that was paused because of a limited supply of vaccine will recommence tomorrow (Thursday, January 28) it has now been confirmed.

The interruption has not affected the number of people that were expected to receive an injection this week, according to a local NHS spokesperson.

A spokesperson for the NHS Surrey Heartlands Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “The vaccination programme is a flexible programme that steps up and down to accommodate supply. Appointments at GLive are booked for tomorrow and into next week.

“We are working at pace to ensure all priority group are vaccinated and we are progressing exceeding well to meet expectations.

“If anyone has an appointment for GLive it will take place but a reminder that you can only attend if you have been contacted and invited to have the vaccine.”

On Monday (January 25) it was noticed by those passing G Live that, in contrast to the continuous activity over recent days, the centre appeared closed.

There was no prior announcement of the hiatus. Volunteers who help staff the centres are understood to have been suitably informed to stand down until then.

Vaccinations at Superdrug in Guildford High Street were continuing on Tuesday (January 26).

On Tuesday a spokesperson for the CCG said: “There has been a change to the delivery slot for the local vaccination service at G Live in Guildford this week.

“The number of people who can be vaccinated is led by the supply of vaccine available. The change to the delivery has not impacted the number of people we would have expected to vaccinate this week and we continue to roll-out the programme to the priority cohorts that have been identified by the JCVI [Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisation].”

Vaccinations are continuing. Last night I took a 102-year-old resident in the Horsley community bus to Superdrug in Guildford. She received the AZ shot, and was in and out in 25 minutes. Really impressive service, and GBC has kindly arranged to keep the High Street open, so we can park close by with our elderly passengers.

By the way, I wish the press would cease picturing patients and syringes. We all know what a syringe looks like, and do not need constant reminders.
