It was Brooklands Museum’s Great War Day on Sunday (September 30) to commemorate Brooklands role in the First World War when pilots trained there as well as Vickers constructing military aircraft.
On view from the Brooklands collection based near Weybridge was the replica Vickers Vimy aircraft which, during the morning and afternoon, demonstrated engine runs.
There was a re-enactment army group the 10th Essex, who did drill on the Paddock and marched up the finishing straight.
Among the vehicles on display in the Paddock was John Dennis’s 1909 Dennis Tourer, pictured here with an Edwardian re-enactor.The next event at Brooklands will be Transportfest on October 21, featuring London Leyland buses, also with horse-bus rides as well as rides on other buses.
