Building Heroes, a charity dedicated to supporting Armed Forces personnel transitioning to civilian life, has partnered with Velocity Roads, a company with a significant presence in Guildford, as a Bronze Sponsoring Partner.

This collaboration not only highlights Velocity Roads’ commitment to the local community but also underscores Guildford’s role in facilitating veterans’ integration into the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Building Heroes was founded in 2014 and has played a key role in helping service leavers and veterans gain new qualifications and employment. Partnering with Velocity Roads, a company known for road maintenance and infrastructure management, strengthens efforts to bridge the gap between military service and civilian work.

Chris Charles, CEO of Building Heroes, spoke about the significance of the partnership: “Our collaboration with Velocity Roads Group marks a poignant stride forward in our heartfelt mission to champion our veterans.

“Together, we extend beyond training to provide a community and a network that truly values and comprehends the distinct qualities our former military personnel bring to the civilian workforce. We eagerly anticipate the transformative impacts this partnership will have on the lives of many, lighting paths to new beginnings and brighter futures.”

Dominic Gardner, CEO of Velocity Roads Group, highlighted the benefits of working with Building Heroes: “Velocity Roads Group are delighted to be partnering with Building Heroes. We are very proud of our team, and especially our armed forces leavers and veterans.

“Our relationship with Building Heroes has helped us to reach out to serving armed forces personnel to inform them of the many opportunities within our businesses, and we have made several fantastic additions to our team. We look forward to continuing to work with Building Heroes to bring more skilled, loyal, and committed service personnel into our businesses.”

Expanding Support for Veterans in Construction and Infrastructure

As part of the collaboration, Velocity Roads will introduce employment engagement sessions within the Building Heroes enrichment programme. These sessions will provide insights into careers and opportunities within the road management and infrastructure sector. Additionally, veterans will have access to mentors from Velocity Roads’ employee community, offering guidance on transitioning into civilian roles.

The charity, which connects the education sector, the Armed Forces, and the construction industry, continues to play a vital role in supporting veterans. Since its founding, it has empowered service leavers by offering hands-on training, mentorship, and career pathways.
