Burglars made off with a large quantity of jewellery from Ernest Jones jewellers in Guildford High Street last night.

Surrey Police were called shortly after midnight (30 August) following a report of a burglary at the jewellers at the junction of the High Street and Swan Lane.

The two suspects are thought to have attacked the door and window display before making off up the High Street towards Chapel Street with a large quantity of jewellery.

Witnesses described the suspects as two white males, less than 6ft tall, wearing grey and black hoodies with tracksuit trousers. One male is believed to have been wearing a balaclava.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “If you witnessed the incident, or you have any information which might assist the investigation, please contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting crime reference number 45170095201. Alternatively the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

In 2013 two brothers were sentenced to seven years for an armed raid at the Cry for the Moon Jewellers in Tunsgate. Mappin and Webb, also on the High Street, was raided in 2009. See dramatic YouTube video below.
