Busy Weekend Of Fundraising Tops £1,000

A party held to celebrate the Queen’s 65-year reign and Dame Vera Lynn’s 100th birthday raised money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Held on Friday last week (July 14) at Guildford’s Holiday Inn, it was hosted by the Guildford and Godalming fundraising branch of the BHF.

Branch chairman Shirley West said: “We had a lovely afternoon tea with beautiful cakes and strawberries supplied by Cheesman Bros of Guildford.

The Mayor [of Guildford], Nigel Manning, toasted the Queen and Dame Vera Lynn. Anne Milton MP helped with the most fantastic raffle I have ever seen.

“Our dear friend Bill Bellerby enjoyed the singing from female singing duo Jonty, and the flags were flying.

“I would also like to thank Joe Berryman, the manager of Guildford’s Tesco store,  for his support and to everyone who supported our special afternoon.

“We then spent two evenings at Guildford Lido’s film nights nights collecting for the BHF. And I also thank the staff who make us welcome every year.”

In total, more than £1,000 was raised.

A successful weekend for the Guildford and Godalming fundraising branch of the British Heart Foundation saw more than £1,000 being raised.
