Could you care for a cat like this?

A charity has launched an appeal in Guildford to find kind-hearted people who can help cats get back on their paws.

Cat-lovers with some spare time are invited to find their purr-fect roles by volunteering for Cats Protection’s Guildford & Godalming Branch.

The branch is seeking a secretary, publicity team leader and trap, neuter and return (TNR) volunteers.

The volunteer secretary will help with administration and communicate with members of the public, vets and branch volunteers.

The volunteer publicity team leader who will help promote the work of the branch as well as advertising lost and found cats and help match up them up to their owners.

The charity also runs a TNR scheme to humanely capture feral cats, before transporting them to a vet to be neutered and finally released back to their colony.

Briony Martin, Cats Protection’s area branch development manager, said: “The volunteer-run branch does a huge amount of work to help cats so sparing just a couple of hours a week can make a huge difference to needy cats.

“We work hard to match people’s skills, interests and time availability to the roles on offer so if you have something to contribute, please do get in touch. Becoming a volunteer for Cats Protection is a great way to meet new friends, both human and feline!

No previous experience is necessary and the charity will provide plenty of assistance and support.

As well as finding new homes for unwanted and abandoned cats, Cats Protection also offers cat care advice to the public and can help towards the cost of neutering

Anyone interested in the role should email bsuee@cats.org.uk or call 01825 741 995 for more information. A video about volunteering for Cats Protection can be found here: http://bit.ly/VolunteeringforCP</a
