Some of the Challengers team – ready for action

Challengers have been named Charity of the Year for the Guildford Inflatable 5k – described as the world’s biggest fun-filled five-kilometre obstacle course.

Now they are looking for as many people as possible to join Team Orange in tackling the course on Saturday, May 9. The fundraising event will take place in Stoke Park, Guildford.

A statement from the Guildford charity said: “This fantastic event transforms Stoke Park into an inflatable wonderland and features 30 giant challenges including slides, obstacles and water elements.

“Runners and bouncers of all ages and abilities can take on the 5km course, with shorter options available too.

“Every bounce and slide you take directly supports Challengers’ vital work, creating spaces where disabled children and young people can thrive and belong through the power of play.

“Challengers’ Guildford Centre and headquarters are located on Stoke Park, making this one of the most local and meaningful fundraising events in the charity’s  calendar.”

Challengers is a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of disabled children, young people and their families through the power of play.

The charity says: “Through play, children learn to build confidence, self-esteem, creativity and how to interact with others. Play is also essential for a child’s cognitive, physical, social and mental wellbeing and development.

“Sadly, too many disabled young people miss out on play every day. There are many barriers stopping disabled children from playing, from a lack of accessible play facilities to time, money and support.  That’s where Challengers comes in.”
