Compton Woman Arrested for Burglary

A 27-year-old woman from Compton was one of four suspects arrested for burglary within 24 hours by Surrey Police, in neighbouring Waverley Borough, this week.

On Thursday afternoon (22 February, 2018), the woman and a 28-year-old man from Godalming were arrested on Gorse Lane in Farnham on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary after their Transit van was stopped by police.

When searching the van, officers found a number of suspected stolen items, including a chainsaw. The man and woman have been released under investigation.

The evening before (21 February), two men were arrested in Alfold in connection with an aggravated burglary. The two men were found to be in possession of items believed connected to the offence.

One man, 32, from Bordon in Hampshire and another man, 35, from Crawley in West Sussex have been released under investigation.

Waverley Borough Inspector, Mark Bridge, said: “We are aware of the concerns of local residents and we are working hard to tackle this recent spate of burglaries. We have increased our patrols and are targeting known offenders.

“We will continue to identify and pursue the offenders and I am pleased to report these recent encouraging results. We will not be complacent and the offence of burglary remains a top priority for Surrey Police.

“I will ensure my team remain vigilant and that we attend every house burglary. That we investigate all lines of enquiry thoroughly and provide appropriate support and crime prevention advice to all victims. I am grateful for the continued help that you as local residents provide and together we will continue to reduce these offences.

“I simply encourage you to be vigilant and review the security within your home, shed and garage. A police spokesperson, in a press release, said: “This recent good news follows on from last week’s positive news that we charged two men in connection with 37 burglaries across 11 counties.

Hide all keys, including car keys, out of sight and away from the letterbox
Install dusk to dawn outside lighting
Secure bikes at home by locking them to an immovable object
Keep ladders and tools stored away; don’t leave them outside
