The Riverside Nature reserve car park was re-opened this morning at 7.30am.

A GBC spokesperson asked to confirm the report said: “Yes that’s right they are all now open throughout Surrey as per government guidance changing from today.”

The re-opened GBC country car parks include those at: The Chantries, St Martha’s,  Merrow Down (by the golf club) and Lakeside Nature Reserve in Ash Vale have also been re-opened. They were controversially closed a month ago on April 10.

Dragon reader Jim Allen, who lives close to the Riverside car park pleaded: “Please don’t all rush there. Nothing has changed in the past day. Social distancing is still the safe way forward.

“And please take your litter home or use the bags provided.”

Newlands Corner car park also re-opened this morning.

It is worth reminding everyone that Surrey County Council removed the controversial countryside parking charges effective from April 1. Now they need to get on and remove charges for those that do the right thing by taking waste to the Community Recycling Centres.
