Covid Infections on the Rise Again in Surrey

Covid infections rates are on the rise across Surrey tonight. Only Mole Valley has seen fewer cases than the previous seven days.

And with London being moved into Tier 3 restrictions fears will be growing that Surrey could be affected too if the rising rate can’t be checked. To the east of Surrey, Kent has been under Tier 3 since the end of Lockdown 2.

Tier 3 restrictions mean:

  • no household mixing indoors or outdoors in hospitality venues or private gardens
  • rue of six applies in outdoor public spaces like parks
  • pubs and bars not serving meals will be closed
  • guidance against travelling into and out of the area

In Guildford borough the seven-day infection rate has moved up above 100 again to 113 but, in Surrey, only Waverley borough and Mole Valley district have lower rates.

Hospital admissions of Covid patients across the South East are also on the rise. There were nearly 400 more this last week across the whole region.

Thankfully, Covid related deaths remain low, locally. In the Borough of Guildford there were three within 28 days of a positive Covid test and two where Covid was mentioned on the death certificate; this brings the totals since the beginning of November to 13 and 8 respectively.
