In line with national figures, almost 50 per cent of adults in the Surrey Heartlands NHS area have by now received their first dose of Covid vaccine.
The Guildford vaccination service at G Live is offering drop-in vaccination sessions today (March 22) and Wednesday (March 24) between 8am-7:30pm, strictly for those aged 50+ who are yet to receive a first dose vaccination.
The Surrey Heartlands Clinical Commissioning Group website reminds potential attendees to: “bring along some personal identification, a face covering and if you have it, your NHS number. Use the NHS ‘Find your NHS number’ service if you do not know your NHS number.”
And there is a warning that the availability of vaccinations is dependent on deliveries received at each site.
After several weeks where the number of vaccinations administered has dipped last week saw an increase. But the number of second vaccinations remains low. Only 13% of over 80s have received their second jab and only 1 or 2 per cent of the remaining age groups.
Good news is that there were only two Covid related deaths, within 28 days of a positive test, recorded last week; the lowest figure since early November.
But infection rates and hospital admissions have only dipped slightly albeit from a low level. The rate appears to have flattened and at this lower level is proving stubbornly persistent.
