Cyclist Dies in Burpham Collision

Police accident signA cyclist died following a collision on the southbound carriageway of the A3 at Burpham last night (Thursday, July 24).

The incident occurred just after 11.30pm when a car and a pedal cycle collided.

The driver of the vehicle was been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries sustained during the collision. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surrey Police officers are urging anyone who may have either witnessed the incident unfolding or the events surrounding it to contact them. A police statement said: “This is to identify key witnesses but also because incidents of this nature can be traumatic and seeking appropriate help for those who may need it is vital.”

Earlier in the day a cyclist was seriously injured in Shere.

The A3 was expected to remain closed for several hours and motorists were advised to find alternative routes.
