Dangerous Driver Disqualified for Five Years After 130mph M25 Chase

A man has been handed a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and been disqualified from driving for five years after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, 21 May.

Jay Peters, 31, of Rushbrooke Close, High Wycombe, was arrested in the early hours of 12 September of last year after officers spotted him driving dangerously on the M25 in Runnymede.

Peters was driving at excessive speed and when officers indicated for the car to pull over, he failed to stop and instead sped off initiating a police pursuit where he drove in excess of 130mph.

After three separate pursuits and after being safely stopped in Longwick, Buckinghamshire, Peters was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop, dangerous driving and, after failing a breathalyser test, for driving under the influence.

Peters will also be required to take an extended driving test once his disqualification period has elapsed, complete 250 hours of unpaid work and be under curfew for three months.

Investigating Officer, PC Rebecca Blake, said: “During this incident, Peters was not only over the limit, so his senses were dangerously impaired, but he put other people’s lives at risk with no concern for their safety.

“He recklessly endangered the lives of others and this is something we take extremely seriously in Surrey.”
