Angela Richardson and Boris Johnson

Disappointing election results for her Conservative colleagues standing as local councillors have not changed Guidford’s MP Angela Richardson’s mind over Boris Johnson’s position.

She is still undecided on whether to join those calling for a vote of no confidence in him as leader of the Conservative Party and therefore prime minister.

She told The Guildford Dragon NEWS: “My position on the matter of the Prime Minister’s future has been consistent throughout the past few months and that is that the full facts should be known in as much detail as possible before any position on his future is taken.

“The Sue Gray report should provide us with those facts and it is at that point that I, along with many colleagues I’m sure, will form a view on the appropriate way forward.

“I have already made a statement about my personal view on the Prime Minister’s behaviour following the actions by the Metropolitan Police.”

In an earlier statement, Ms Richardson said that the fines resulting from Covid rule breaches at No 10 were “disappointing” and that she hoped that the Prime Minister would “correct” statements he has previously made about them.

Today (May 9) the leader of the opposition, Keir Starmer, said that he would resign if he was fined for his alleged breach of the rules.
