Royal Surrey County Hospital staff receiving their ‘Surrey Star’ trophies at last year’s award ceremony

The Royal Surrey County Hospital (RSCH) is asking local residents to nominate a “Royal Surrey Star”, a member of staff they believe outdid himself and helped patients above the call of duty.

The Patient’s Choice Award is one of the category staff can be nominated for, where patients or their families nominate a member of staff they believe exceeded expactations. Sue Sjuve, Royal Surrey’s Chair said: “This is a very special year for the NHS as we celebrate its 70th Anniversary.  Our Trust covers an area which serves over two million people and our dedicated staff deal with the increasing pressures on the NHS, 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

“The annual staff awards ceremony is our way of recognising the outstanding contribution made by individuals and teams, to patient care and healthcare excellence.

“The Patient’s Choice award is your chance to thank individual staff members or teams who have made a real difference to your life or that of a loved one.”

During the annual Surrey Stars award ceremony, the County Hospital recognises and celebrates all staff achievements, including staff based at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, and those providing adult community health services serving Guildford and Waverley based in a variety of locations including Haslemere Hospital, Milford Hospital, Cranleigh Hospital, District Nurses/community staff based at the Jarvis Centre Guildford and in East Horsley and Radiotherapy Unit based in Redhill.

If you know a Royal Surrey Star and would like to give him special recognition, nominate him on www.royalsurrey.nhs.uk, or pick up  a nomination form from main reception or outpatients reception desk at Royal Surrey County Hospital, Cranleigh Hospital, Haslemere Hospital, Milford Hospital or the Radiology Department at East Surrey Hospital.

The deadline for nominations is 11.59pm next Sunday, October 14.

The finalists will be attending the Awards Ceremony on November 22 and nominations will be judged by Royal Surrey colleagues representing  a cross-section of staff from across the organisation.
