Eagle radioEagle Radio is asking for nominations for their annual Local Heroes awards. They can be made until July 14th.

Local Heroes was created to celebrate the many hard-working and selfless individuals across Surrey and Hampshire.

The categories include:

  • The Music Award, which celebrates the success of local musicians, groups and choirs – locally and nationally.
  • The Sports Award, which is open to both amateurs and professionals, and highlights personal sporting achievements.
  • The Military Pride Award, which praises serving members, veterans and community supporters of locally-based Armed Forces.
  • The Young Person Award, for inspirational Under 18’s who are creating a better future for themselves and others.

Lewis Mason, Evening Show Presenter and Local Heroes Co-ordinator, is pleased that the event is returning for a second year: “Eagle Radio’s Local Heroes allows the people of Surrey and Hampshire to praise those who go above and beyond, achieve incredible success, or make a real difference to their community.

“Something that each nomination seems to have in common is that the nominee doesn’t see what they do, or have done, as special.

“It is just everyday life to them; little do they know how much of an influence and impact they are having.

“We want to make sure that these people receive the recognition that they deserve.”

Nominations are open until Sunday, July 14 2013, and two winners from each category will be chosen by a panel of selected judges.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 12t at G Live in Guildford.
