Antiques themed television shows seem endlessly popular. Often they culminate in an auction room to see if selected items reach the estimated price and turn a profit.

Many of us are fascinated and learn along the way something about the items, their rarity, manufacturer, historical context and, of course, their value.

This month the BBC filmed for one of its Antiques Road Trip programmes at a local auction house, Ewbanks at Ripley, housed in an industrial-looking building, the former home of horticultural business and noticeable to the London bound traffic on the adjacent A3.

The Guildford Dragon NEWS is always keen to support local business, especially one that shares a Dragon as its logo.

Andrew Ewbank said: “Our logo, a stylised Dragon’s head, comes from the Ewbank family crest a Dragon rising out of the Coronet, so the dragon as a symbol has a very special place in our hearts here at Ewbank’s as it does for the Guildford Dragon.”

He went on to tell Hugh Coakley more about his business…
